Words that might be used to describe Apexical, Inc.
are innovation and customer focus. The company was
founded in 1900 as Apex Chemical Corporation in Brooklyn,
NY producing lactic acid using a unique synthesis
process. Growth from new opportunities prompted the
move of the company to Elizabeth, NJ in 1916. These
included a wide range of chemical specialties, including
flame retardants, finishing agents, and dyeing auxiliaries
for the paper, leather, and textile industries.
A continued commitment to customer focus led to further
growth beginning with the establishment of a warehouse
in Spartanburg, SC in 1992 to better serve the North
American textile market. Expansion of the Spartanburg
physical plant enabled the relocation of the Apex
Chemical Corporation in 1994, including all production,
manufacturing, research and development activities.
The commitment to customer success and innovation
has resulted in Apex Chemical Corporation’s
longevity and further growth. This is evidenced by
the completion in 2003 of a major 3500 sq.ft. laboratory
expansion that added to Apex Chemical Corporation’s
capability in innovative product development and responsive
commitment to serving customer needs. Most recently,
plant and warehouse expansion projects added 12,000
sq.ft. to the physical plant in 2005 along with an
emergency power generator to enable continuity of
operations in electrical outages. A new 10,000 gallon
reactor put into this new space was commissioned in
2006. Additionally bulk storage capacity for raw materials
was put in place and a new 300 hp steam boiler was
installed.
A major reason for the growth of Apexical is that
over the years the company has anticipated and responded
to its customers’ needs by improving on its
ability to develop custom products to meet specific
applications. All Apexical customers receive close,
personal attention regardless of the size of their
orders. Our ISO 9001-2008 QMS quality
system assures prompt, reliable delivery from an unusual,
diverse product line that contains specialty items
unobtainable from any other source.
In 2010, Apexical acquired the North American operations
of CHT R. Beitlich further expanding its product portfolio.
